Treestand Hunting Safety
Hunting up in a treestand is by far one of the preferred bowhunters method of hunting. While it does give you more of an advantage being above your game, he’s less likely to wind you, you still should never forget basic treestand safety. Always tell someone your hunting plan. Hunt with a buddy whenever possible.
Before putting up your stand make sure the tree is live, straight and of the right diameter for your stand. Inspect the stand to make sure all fittings are tight and secure. Make sure you understand how to attach your stand to the tree securely. Always use a haul line to bring up gear after you are in the stand. Unload all weapons before hauling up. Do not leave a treestand in place longer than two weeks as weather and other conditions may leave damage to the stand that you cannot see. Always carefully inspect an existing treestand before using.
